Private Lessons
Individual lessons give students the ideal opportunity to study chess with their teacher based on their personal needs. Interested in gaining additional, individualized help? If you want your child to benefit from extra coaching, NYChessKids can provide experienced scholastic chess teachers that will take your child’s game to the next level. Whether your aspiring youngster is relatively new to the game, or a tournament veteran who wants to make that big breakthrough to expert or master, we can create a program that will help accomplish the goal. Our classroom teachers are very experienced with students Pre-K to high school, ranging from beginners to national champions (we are happy to provide verification of this).
From you and your child we need only two things: belief in the system we will tailor to your child’s needs, and his or her earnest efforts to follow that system. About our success there is no doubt; join the hundreds of students who have seen lasting improvement in their chess game!
Depending on your child’s level, we may ask for copies of recent tournament games to determine their strengths and weaknesses.

When emailing us for lessons, please provide us with the following information about your child: their age, the school they attend, the area in which they live, their chess rating (if applicable), and any previous chess teaching they may have had.
Available for all students - from kids to adults. All teachers follow the highly acclaimed NYChessKids Chess School Program.
Every student has a profile with all information at hand for the teacher. Teachers will update the profile after the lessons on a regular basis.
On-Site Lesson
Rate: $75 per hour
This has been the traditional way to have a lesson, your chess teacher comes to your home or any other site you agreed upon to teach you. Choose the teacher of your preference. Available only for children.
Online Lesson
Rate: $50 per hour
This is a new and very exciting opportunity to have a lesson on your computer with you and your teacher being connected online in a virtual classroom.
There are many reasons why you would want to have an online lesson, e.g lack of availabiltiy of a chess teacher coming to your home, or you are on a business trip or on vacation and you just don’t want to miss your next private lesson, or you just like the convenience and flexibility that online private lessons offer.
All you need is a computer with internet access. We strongly recommend using a headset for best audio quality experience. Each lesson will be recorded and will be made available for download soon after the lesson ended.
