General Information

NYChessKids offers a wide range of scholastic chess activities.

Our chess teachers teach chess in the morning classes assisted by classroom teachers.

We run an After School Program at several schools like PS 116, PS 163, SMS (Special Music School) and Solomon Schechter.

Please note that our After School Chess Program is also open for children who come from other schools. We believe that allowing kids from other schools to join the After School Program in one specific school will benefit all children that attend classes in the After School Program.

We are also very proud to offer a class for disabled children who are blind or deaf. We believe that chess is an activity that can make anybody happy for the rest of their life regardless of their physical condition.

4 times a year we run a Chess Camp. The Chess Camp offers a perfect environment for ambitious kids that want to improve their chess quickly. We run a Chess Camp for one week during the Christmas Holidays, one Chess Camp during the Februar and April semester breaks and the big Summer Chess Camp starting at the end of June until the end of August.

Once a month we organize a Chess Tournament hosted by PS 116 that normally attracts more than 200 kids.

In our Online School we offer several workshops and group lessons for students that like to have chess lessons in a virtual classroom in the case when they don't have the opportunity to attend a real chess class.

Very ambitious students can take Private Lessons with our chess teachers either at their home or online in our virtual classroom.

NYChessKids developed a comprehensive and concise chess program that is a fundamental part in educating and teaching our chess students. The Chess Program is comprised of ten different skill levels and each level defines a wide range of chess knowledge that each kid has to learn before it can advance to the next level. Getting promoted and moving on to the next level is an important part of recognizing and acknowledging our students effort and success.
