NYChessKids
PS116 Tournament - June 6th, 2010
Despite summer like temperatures, more than 160 kids took up the challenge and heated up the chess boards with their uncompromising fighting spirit. This was the last PS 116 chess tournament before the summer break and while kids where sweating in the tournament hall over their chess game, parents chilled out in the air-conditioned cafeteria. As usual, games were hard-fought and surprisingly the last section to finish was not the Championship section but the Open section.(See the video of last tournament, video of this tornament coming soon.)
Lower Lab School Tournament - May 23, 2010
When the last game finished at around 5:00pm, it was clear that another successful tournament at the Lower Lab School has come to an end.The Lower Lab School Tournament continues to grow steadily. In its 4th installment, it attracted 166 kids setting up a new attendance record for the chess tournament in the school.
Thanks to the parents of Lower Lab School for their great support! The Lower Lab School Tournament will be continued after the summer break.

Spring Chess Camp 2010
What can be said about the NYChessKids Spring Break Chess Camp? With over 70 kids per day, it was huge. And with all those kids it was energetic. And with all that energy, it was exciting.
Kids came from all over the five boroughs, and from New Jersey, and from Connecticut, and from Upstate. One kid came from Washington, D.C., another kid came from Boston.
Of course there was a lot of chess ... practice games, serious games, skittle games, and focused lessons at all levels. Kids came to us who are still learning how the pieces move, some who have only played one or two tournaments, some who have won honors or even their section at nationals.
