Saudin
Robovic Our
founder, Saudin Robovic, was born in Bosnia and is an international
chess master.
He moved to New York City in 1996 and immediately became involved
in scholastic chess. When Saudin realized the need for a program
like NyChessKids he developed it in 1999. |

Gary
Ryan
Gary
is Harvard-educated in theology, and moved to New York City
about 12 years ago from Mississippi. He taught chess for Chess-in-the-Schools
for many years, and he has taught other chess programs in
Manhattan and Brooklyn. This will be Gary’s third year with
the NYChessKids family, and we have been lucky to have him.

Nelson
Dunn
An
experienced chessplayer, coach, and tournament director, Nelson
taught for Chess-in-the-Schools for six years and has taken
many scholastic chess teams to the Nationals. From 2004, Nelson
has also been Assistant Manager of the Marshall Chess Club
in Greenwich Village. In the 2005-2006 season, in addition
to teaching chess, he will also be actively involved in directing
NYChessKids tournaments.

Gregory
Cesar Gregory
has been with NyChessKids since the start and has become one
of our most sought after teachers. He hails from Haiti and has
been in the city for more then 10 years. He is a student at
Queens College and is studying music education. Besides his
gift for music he is also extremely brilliant in chess, which
is rare combination. He is a US National Chess Master and currently
uses his gift to teach in several schools in the area. |

Joseph
Shepard (Shep) This
New York City native has worked with NyChessKids since its conception
and is beloved by everyone here. He is one of our chess teachers
and is also responsible for the sport activities during our
camps. He is a chess book expert and is always researching new
ones. During the camps, Shep will analyze famous games that
chess masters have played in the past. The students love to
sit around and listen to his unique interpretation of these
games. |

Harding
André
is a new chess instructor with NYChessKids. Previously, he was
Assistant Manager of the Marshall Chess Club from 2003-2005.
He is also an experienced USCF Senior Tournament Director and
will be directing NYChessKids events this year. Academically,
He has a B.A. cum laude in History from the Honors College of
CUNY; most of my studies focused upon Early Modern Europe and
the medieval Church. |

Peter
Aravena Peter
is also a newcomer to NyChessKids program, but has already made
a name for himself. He is our assistant WebMaster and also a
chess teacher. Peter is a very strong chess master. Along with
these duties he will also analyze games and post them on the
website. |

Anatoly
Trubman Anatoly
is an extremely famous chess teacher who teaches at Hunter School.
He has long since supported the NyChessKids, but has just recently
joined our team as a teacher. We are glad to have him on our
team. |

Chris
Charnin
Chris has been teaching for 17 years in both the public and private schools, including the Bronx High School of Science, The Calhoun School and P. S. 75. He is the former Director of Teacher Training at Chess-in-the-Schools and has been actively involved with NYChessKids since its inception. A chess player all his life, Chris loves teaching the royal game to all students from kindergarten to adult. |

Maksymowitch
Chris is a very experienced teacher having taught chess for many years in both the public and private sector. He can teach beginners as well as advanced players. He has coached many national level players.
He has a bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The College of New Rochelle and also manages his own Real Estate portfolio.
Lessons are designed with his student’s strengths and interests in mind and focus on solid fundamental knowledge and classical chess principles. His motto is: “Teaching, like chess, is an art.”

Fan Wu
Frank
is our head Webmaster for nychesskids.com. He originated from
China, and has lived in New York City for more than 14 years.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Commmunication Design. He has been
doing web design since 1998. He also is a great photographer, shoots most of events of NYChessKids. |
