What a wonderful experience! The PS 6 tournament, held on March 2,was a delightful experience for everyone in attendance. As soon as we walked in, you were greeted by the sounds of children singing in the auditorium. Along with the tournament, there were many other after-school activities simultaneously taking place in the building. All in all, these things made it a very wholesome and multidimensional experience; in contrast to the normal chess tournaments.

The tournament was divided into 5 sections; and 67 talented youngsters showed up to match their wits. There were two open sections, a K-1 section and two U900 sections; one for K-2 and K-3 and one for K-4 and K-5. All section winners won with a perfect score of 4.0/4.0! (click on the link below for complete results)

To no one's surprise top rated Marc Arnold won his open section, but Zachary Himes was the upset winner in the other open section. Henry Ef took the U900 section for 4th and 5th graders; and our own Roger "R. J."Parrino upset his higher rated opponents to top the U900 section for 2nd and 3rd graders(Read below for R. J's interview). And last but not least,Steven Maroff took top honors in the K-1 section.

The kids had fun! Even when they lost! Maybe they know something we don't!
