Chess
Challenge David Luciano
You should play chess!!!!! Chess can help you in a lot of situations. It can improve
your mind, it can make your memory expand, it can help to plan out what you are
going to do next, it helps you to meet new people, it helps you to learn how to
get along with people that are different then yourself, it helps you to follow
directions, and it helps you to maintain focus!!!!!!!!! There are many
moves to learn. You have to keep your brain very alert. You should learn
to listen and to pay attention to your chess teacher, if you have one. I DO!
Want me to tell you what some of the hardest chess tournaments are? I'll let you
in on a little secret. They are.... the Nationals, the States, the City Championships,
and the hardest tournament of them all is... The Super Nationals.
Even though I have never been to the Super Nationals before, my friends told me
that it was the hardest chess tournament in their whole entire life. So that is
how I learned (partly learned) about chess tournaments. Never give up on
anything that you work hard on (dream about) and no matter what, it can be accomplished.
Just do not give up. I DON'T! And remember to play chess! Chess is a great
way to build energy for sports like: track, karate, dance, boxing and kick-boxing.
But sometimes chess can make you lose energy! ! ! ! ! !!! My favorite part
of chess is attacking. Some people like to defend. I like to attack because then
the opponent will always have to defend and won't know what is going on. At
a chess game you are under a lot of pressure. It is not a good feeling. But you
have no choice but to do it. So you have to be able to play at your best. I
would like to tell you about a former World's Champion. His name is Garry Kasparov.
At 22 years old he was the youngest person to ever become World Champion. I met
him and played against him. It was a good experience for me. I found him to be
very friendly. Bobby Fischer was a chess genius. His whole life he studied
about the game of chess. He became a master at 12 years old!!!!!! At 13 he won
the US Junior championship. He was one of the strongest players in the world.
He wanted to improve tournament conditions. But they would not listen. He stopped
playing for over 20 years!!!!!! He came back and defeated Boris Spassky. He was
still a chess genius. I would like to be able to play on the same level as Bobby
Fischer. That would be fantastic!!!!! Here are the names of the chess World
Champions: Paul Morphy and Wilhelm Steinitz, Emanul Lasker, Jose Raul Capablanca,
Alexander Alekhine, Max Euwe, Mikhail Botvinnik, Vassily Smyslov, Mikhail Tal,
Tigran Petrosian, Boris Spassky, Bobby Fisher, Antoly Karpov and Garry Kasparov.
A couple of others were world champions too. PS
Even if you
think that you are going to lose, there is always a way to win (unless, of course,
there is no possible way to win and you have asked everybody and even they can't
find a way to win, then you have definitely lost). Always be prepared for anything
because anything can happen. Also, like always, be careful about anything, and
I mean anything, that you do or think about!
AND
THE BEST THING TO THINK ABOUT IS THE GAME CALLED
CHESS
