NYChesskids: Mentor-Kasparov Chess Challenge

* Chess Legend Garry Kasparov to Face NYC Youngsters In Fundraising Match
* Rookies Vs. King Kasparov (New York Magazine)

World's number one chess player Gary Kasparov gave a simultaneous exhibition at the Pack building in New York's Greenwich Village on June 26. The event was organized by Mentor, a charity based in Germany with chapters through out the Globe. For everyone present this was a once in a lifetime opportunity too see a World Champion in action. Kasparov not only donated his time for this event but won each of the thirty-four games he played. It may not come as a surprise that the world's number one player overcome all opposition, but the kids showed great character and played chess worthy of such an event. Following is one of many interesting games from the event.

Mark Parrino's game after Kasparov's h3 was very exiting. Parker Zao also played an interesting game. Parker was one of very few players to try for an attack against Kasparov.

Apart from chess, the event was a pleasant and memorable experience for everyone present. Hey, did I mention that I was lucky enough to get Kasparov to autograph two of my world championship magazines! What a treat. It was a blast.
